Black Sherif Unbothered by Missing Grammy Nomination for 2026 Awards

Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has said he is not disturbed by missing out on a nomination at the 2026 Grammy Awards, despite submitting his work for consideration.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, November 10, the award-winning artiste revealed that although his team filed entries for multiple Grammy categories, he remains calm and unbothered about not making the final shortlist.

“We did file. African Music Performance and Global,” Black Sherif confirmed during the conversation.

The “Kwaku The Traveller” hitmaker explained that his team submitted entries for the Best African Music Performance and Global Music categories — both of which have become key platforms for African artistes to gain international recognition.

While acknowledging that a nomination would have been an exciting achievement, Black Sherif emphasized that the absence of one does not affect him emotionally or creatively.

“I would be happy if they nominate me. But like I’m saying, it doesn’t even shift me if they don’t. I’m not pushed. I’m not touched,” he said.

According to him, his focus remains on personal growth, creative evolution, and making impactful music that resonates globally. He believes recognition such as a Grammy nomination will eventually come as Ghana’s music industry continues to evolve and gain attention worldwide.

“Ghana’s music industry is growing, and recognition on global platforms like the Grammys will come naturally with time and consistency,” he added.

The 2026 Grammy nominations, announced earlier this month, included several African acts in various categories — a sign of the continent’s increasing influence in global music. Though Black Sherif was not listed this year, his work continues to attract international praise for its storytelling, authenticity, and cultural depth.

The young musician, known for blending highlife, trap, and Afrobeats, remains one of Ghana’s most influential modern voices and a symbol of resilience in the country’s vibrant music scene.
