Flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has picked the first slot on the ballot ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
The party conducted the balloting exercise on Friday, October 10, at its headquarters in Accra, supervised by the NPP elections committee as part of preparations for its upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for later this month.

The results of the balloting are as follows:
- Kennedy Agyapong
- Bryan Acheampong
- Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
- Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum
- Kwabena Agyepong
Following the draw, Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, described the number one position as a symbol of victory and confidence for their candidate.
“This is a sign that the delegates will give Ken the nod. Number one means leadership, and we believe it represents the people’s choice,” he said.
Party officials say the balloting process was conducted transparently and peacefully, with all aspirants represented by their campaign teams.
The NPP’s upcoming presidential primaries are expected to be one of the most closely contested internal elections in recent history, as candidates intensify their campaigns across the country.
Observers note that Agyapong’s positioning at the top of the ballot could give his campaign a psychological advantage, especially among grassroots delegates who see symbolism and order as influential factors in political contests.
As the race heats up, the aspirants are expected to ramp up their engagements with delegates in the final weeks leading to the election, which will determine who leads the NPP into the 2028 general elections.

Political analysts have also begun weighing in on the outcome of the balloting, suggesting that while the number one position does not guarantee victory, it often carries strong symbolic significance among party delegates.
Many believe that being listed first on the ballot can subtly influence voter perception, especially in tightly contested internal elections.
Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong have since taken to social media to celebrate the draw, describing it as “divine favor” and a “sign of destiny.” Meanwhile, other aspirants, including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, are confident that their message and track record will ultimately sway delegates at the polls.
