Ghana’s rap king Sarkodie has opened up about the challenges he faced during his Rapperholic “Homecoming” concert in Kumasi, revealing that the heavy rainfall that greeted the show left him scared and anxious.
The much-anticipated event took place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Despite the downpour, fans trooped to the venue in large numbers, determined not to miss what has now been described as one of the most memorable editions of Rapperholic.

Speaking after the event during a visit to veteran Kumawood legend Agya Koo at his luxurious Kumasi residence, Sarkodie admitted that the situation nearly threw the concert off balance.
“It wasn’t easy at all with the rain and it was getting scary, but the love here in Kumasi is totally different, so people still showed up regardless,” Sarkodie said.
He explained that the weather kept alternating between showers and clear spells, forcing fans to scramble for shelter repeatedly.
“The rain stops and starts again and it got to a point I was scared everyone was going to get shelter at a small place, but it eventually stopped,” he recounted.
Despite the weather, the loyalty of SarkNation and Kumasi fans shone through as thousands braved the rains and remained at the venue until the early hours of the morning. Sarkodie emphasized that their commitment and energy turned what could have been a disappointing night into a historic celebration of Ghanaian music.
He used the occasion to extend heartfelt gratitude to Agya Koo, whose presence and support, he said, played a significant role in boosting the concert’s success.
The Rapperholic “Homecoming” concert was packed with performances from some of Ghana’s finest musicians, making it a night to remember. On stage with Sarkodie were Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, Kweku Smoke, the Asaaka Boys, and several rising stars.
Fans were treated to electrifying back-to-back performances, blending highlife, hiplife, drill, and Afrobeats with Sarkodie’s timeless rap classics.
Reflecting on the experience, Sarkodie acknowledged that the rain posed a serious logistical challenge but also provided valuable lessons for future shows.
“This has taught us a lot going forward, and we’ll improve on how we plan so that next time we are fully prepared for anything,” he noted.

Traditionally, Rapperholic has been staged in Accra every December, but this year Sarkodie decided to bring the brand “home” to Kumasi, branding it “The Homecoming.”
The bold move paid off, as the event drew massive crowds from Kumasi and surrounding regions, cementing its place in Rapperholic’s legacy. Fans and entertainment pundits have since praised the decision, calling it a win for the Ashanti Region’s entertainment industry.
Despite the weather scare, the Rapperholic Kumasi edition will be remembered for its vibrant energy, thrilling performances, and unwavering fan dedication. For Sarkodie, it was not just another show but a powerful reminder of the deep bond he shares with his fans.
As he continues his reign as one of Africa’s most influential rappers, the Kumasi “Homecoming” has proven that rain or shine, Sarkodie’s music will always draw the crowds.
