Felix Afena-Gyan Joins Amedspor on Loan from Cremonese

Ghanaian striker Felix Afena-Gyan has completed a move to Turkish TFF First League side Amedspor on loan from Italian club Cremonese for the remainder of the 2025 season. The deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

This marks the 22-year-old’s second loan spell since joining Cremonese from AS Roma in 2022. He previously featured for Juventus Next Gen (Juventus U23) in Italy’s Serie C during the 2024–25 season.

Amedspor confirmed the deal in an official statement released on Wednesday:

“Our club has signed a one-year loan agreement with an option to buy for the 2025–2026 season with professional footballer Felix Ohene Afena Gyan.

We believe that Felix Ohene Afena Gyan will make significant contributions under our green-and-red jersey, and we wish him success in his Amedspor career while hoping this transfer brings good fortune to our club.”

The Turkish club, based in Diyarbakır, is competing in the second tier of Turkish football and has made Afena-Gyan a centerpiece of their squad strengthening for the new campaign.

Afena-Gyan’s rise to prominence began at AS Roma, where he made headlines in 2021 after scoring a brace against Genoa in Serie A under then-coach José Mourinho. His explosive pace and eye for goal earned him a permanent switch to Cremonese in 2022.

However, his career at Cremonese stalled. In his debut Serie A season, Afena-Gyan started just eight of the 23 matches he played. A fracture injury then sidelined him for most of the following Serie B campaign, further halting his progress.

Seeking regular playing time, the young forward was loaned to Juventus Next Gen in August 2024. There, he regained some form and confidence, scoring 10 goals in 30 appearances in Italy’s third tier.

The move to Amedspor is seen as a chance for Afena-Gyan to revive his career and gain valuable playing time at a competitive level. At just 22 years old, he remains one of Ghana’s brightest young attacking prospects, with experience in Serie A, Serie B, and Serie C, as well as appearances for the Black Stars.

For Amedspor, the signing represents both ambition and potential. The club hopes Afena-Gyan’s speed, movement, and goal-scoring instincts will boost their chances in the TFF First League and possibly aid their bid for promotion.

If Afena-Gyan impresses in Turkey, Amedspor could trigger the option-to-buy clause and secure his services on a permanent basis. Such a move would provide stability for the forward after a series of unsettled seasons in Italy.

For now, the Ghanaian will be focused on adapting quickly to Turkish football and making a strong impact in the upcoming season.
