Ghanaian music legend and entrepreneur Reggie Rockstone is counting his blessings after a devastating fire engulfed his beloved eatery, Rockz Waakye, and parts of the Accra Tourist Information Centre in the early hours of Monday, July 4, 2025.
In a heartfelt video posted to his official Facebook page, Reggie appeared visibly emotional as he surveyed the aftermath of the blaze. Flanked by his wife, Zillah Limann, who stood silently by his side, the footage was tagged at 5:23 a.m. and showed the charred remains of the structure, with its roof entirely gutted.

“Yes, there has been a fire, a pretty devastating one,” Reggie confirmed in the video. “The good news is that no human being was harmed. Life is what matters. Material stuff, we don’t take when we check out, so we give praise to Jah for this.”
Despite the extensive damage, the celebrated hiplife pioneer remained grounded and optimistic, emphasizing that human lives were spared and thanking the Ghana National Fire Service for their efforts.
“I know you’re going to catch a lot of flack because you’re so close to us in terms of proximity,” he noted. “But we found out you had to go and quench fires at several other places, so you were exhausted. But you finally did what you had to do, and you put it out.”
Reggie also addressed what he described as “terrible” false reports and prank calls made during the emergency. He called on the public to refrain from spreading rumors, urging everyone to allow the authorities to complete their investigations into the cause of the fire.
His wife, Zillah Limann, added a brief but hopeful message:
“There will be no waakye, unfortunately, today. But I’m sure we’ll be back soon. We don’t know when yet.”
The incident has drawn attention and sympathy from public officials and fans alike. The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, visited the site along with other tourism stakeholders to assess the damage and discuss the possible next steps for recovery.

Rockz Waakye, known for its unique culinary flair and celebrity clientele, had become a staple in Accra’s food and cultural scene. Its shutdown, even if temporary, marks a significant loss to both locals and tourists who frequented the eatery for its authentic Ghanaian cuisine.
Despite the emotional and financial toll, Reggie Rockstone reaffirmed his commitment to rise from the ashes:
“We are still here. We are going to carry on.”
As investigations continue into the cause of the fire, the music icon’s resilience and the outpouring of public support suggest that Rockz Waakye may soon return—stronger than ever.
