Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has spoken out strongly against King Paluta’s recent verbal outburst during a performance in London, urging the rising star to apologise for what he described as unprofessional conduct.
A video circulating on social media captured King Paluta pausing his performance to hurl insults at an audience member who had allegedly expressed dissatisfaction with his stage act. The incident, which occurred during a party in London, has since drawn widespread attention and sparked debate about artistes’ decorum during live performances.
Addressing the matter on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, July 5, Kwabena Kwabena condemned the use of offensive language, emphasizing that performers have a duty to rise above provocation and deliver value to their audience.
“You need to look at the craft very well and understand the stage. It doesn’t matter who likes you or not—at the end of the day, it’s a job. People bought tickets to come see you, and your duty is to entertain them,” he explained.
According to the “Adult Music” hitmaker, while it’s natural for artistes to experience emotional moments, they must learn to manage those emotions under public scrutiny. “It can happen to anyone,” he said, “but I am not excited about the words he used. Let’s be truthful—the words were not words that should come from the mouth of an artiste of his stature.”
Kwabena Kwabena also called on King Paluta’s management team to take responsibility for the situation by issuing a formal apology, noting that accountability is crucial to maintaining public trust and professional growth.
“I believe that by now, he himself and his management should put a statement out to apologise for those words. Let’s call a spade a spade and be blunt,” he urged.
The seasoned musician acknowledged the pressures that come with public performances but reminded Paluta that criticism—whether fair or not—is part of the territory for public figures. He encouraged the younger artiste to adopt a more resilient mindset moving forward.
“Moving forward, he must understand that he is in the eye of the public and they can throw anything at you. He must be able to manage it,” he concluded.
