Kuami Eugene Refutes Career Decline Claims: “My Legacy Is Intact”

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artiste, Kuami Eugene, has firmly dismissed suggestions that his music career is fading, asserting that his legacy in the Ghanaian music scene remains “intact and undeniable.”

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on Saturday, July 5, and monitored by One King Multimedia, the “Angela” hitmaker strongly refuted the growing social media chatter that his popularity is on the decline. According to him, such claims are unfounded and fail to consider the widespread and lasting appeal of his music.

“They still play my songs at weddings and parties across the country. How can I be forgotten?” Kuami Eugene questioned during the interview. He pointed to a long catalogue of hit songs including “Wish Me Well,” “Open Gate,” “No Dulling,” and many more, which continue to enjoy heavy rotation on radio, streaming platforms, and at social gatherings.

He noted that while trends may change in the music industry, the cultural relevance of timeless music always endures. “It will take years for my name and impact to fade. I didn’t just come for the moment; I came to leave a legacy,” he stated.

Kuami Eugene, born Eugene Kwame Marfo, shot to national prominence after winning MTN Hitmaker Season 5, and quickly became a household name under Lynx Entertainment, one of Ghana’s leading music labels. His musical style—a unique fusion of highlife and afrobeats—has contributed significantly to modernizing and sustaining highlife music among the youth.

The singer-songwriter has also collaborated with several top artistes in Ghana and across Africa, expanding his reach and securing a solid spot within the afrobeats and highlife diaspora. He won the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2020, cementing his status as a major force in Ghana’s contemporary music scene.

Addressing recent criticisms and rumours about a slowdown in his output following his departure from Lynx Entertainment, Kuami Eugene explained that he is in a transitional phase, focusing on building something even more powerful under his new arrangement.

“People forget that growth takes time. I’m working on bigger things, and sometimes that means taking a step back to plan, not that I’m fading,” he explained.

The singer encouraged fans to look forward to new music projects and live performances in the months ahead. He emphasized that he is more focused than ever and committed to evolving as an artist while staying true to his Ghanaian roots.

With a fanbase that spans generations and a growing discography of hit records, Kuami Eugene continues to assert his position as one of the defining voices of modern Ghanaian music. Despite the noise, he remains confident in his purpose: “I’m not going anywhere. I’m still here, and the best is yet to come.”
